Do you have a third drawer?

I was perusing the question asking what sort of establishment we live in (sorry for incorrect grammar, but haven’t got a lot of time at the moment – I do know I shouldn’t finish sentence with a preposition).

Anyway, on the grounds of privacy (my daughter would be cross) I choose not to answer, but a quick look at comments got me smiling and thinking.

Ginni Perry of Tasmania states that among other rooms, she has a procrastination room.  I am so glad it has a name, I was feeling guilty, using it as a drop off space to sort out one day.

Then I reached for the scissors, which of course, are kept in the third drawer in the kitchen.

Does everybody have one of these and what is kept in it?

Without delving too deep, mine holds life’s little necessities such as kitchen scissors, manicure set, string, masking tape, local takeaway menus, schmackos straps, to keep dog quiet until I’m awake, band aids, paper bags, elastic bands, dental floss, mini screwdrivers and a clear plastic bag for appliance instructions, which need updating more often than they used to.

I have one or two secrets for finding things here. I swoop on any strong cardboard or wooden box – using a wooden Port box, across the drawer and if possible another smaller one in opposite direction.

Recently had occasion to retrieve a “3DI” (3rd drawer item) for a visitor, who was so excited to see that it’s perfectly normal to have a third drawer like hers and we started looking at things in said drawer – oh I keep that in there and yes that and of course that.

I wonder, does everybody have a third drawer? If not, where do they keep their essential bits and bobs? Tell us about your “3D” in the comments below…
