Senator Fifield explains why we haven’t heard of him yet…

WORDS senator fifield[2]

You asked Senator Fifield, “We haven’t heard of you… If you are our government representative, what are you doing for us and how can it be of quality when we didn’t know you or your role existed?”

And Senator Fifield Answered…

I was appointed as the Assistant Minister for Social Services on 16 September 2013, with responsibility for disability and ageing. I have had frontbench responsibility for disability since 2009, and was pleased to have responsibility for ageing added in September last year.

I’ve met many ageing stakeholders already, with many more to come. I will continue to draw on their wealth of knowledge as we move forward together in this important area.

Meeting and learning from people is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a Minister. That’s why I was so delighted to hear your questions and learn about what matters to you.

It seems to me that we stand on common ground  – that we acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful achievements of seniors and want to ensure a positive future for older Australians.
