A Place To Call Home axed: Have your say

It’s apparently official.  Channel 7, in it’s string of cost-cutting has confirmed that A Place to Call Home will not continue next year.  The period-set TV Show, in its second series was a hit last year with it’s audience peaking at 1.47 million last year.  This year it has not been so hotly received with reported ratings of just over 855,000 a week ago.

“Development on series three is not proceeding,” the spokeswoman told AAP.

The show starring Noni Hazelhurst, Marta Dusseldorp and Brett Climo is set in Country NSW in the period following World War II.  It follows Sarah Adams (Marta Dusseldorp), who has returned to Australia after twenty years abroad to start a new life and ends up clashing with wealthy matriarch Elizabeth Bligh (Noni Hazlehurst). The main cast also consists of Brett Climo (George Bligh), Craig Hall (Dr. Jack Duncan), David Berry (James Bligh), Abby Earl (Anna Bligh), Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood (Olivia Bligh), Aldo Mignone (Gino Poletti) andFrankie J. Holden (Roy Briggs)

It was, in it’s first season described as a “compelling melodrama about love and loss set against the social change of the 1950s”.
