The last song released before this artists death…

This song sung by American folk singer, Jim Croce was a 1973 favourite.

It spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Croce two Grammy Awards for Pop Male Vocalist and Record of the Year.

Sadly, Croce died a tragic death in a plane accident at just 30 years old in the same year this song was released. It has continued to be a legacy for him and is still widely played today.

It’s rhythm makes it a favourite when teaching the traditional ballroom “jive” dance.
