Would you take cannabis if you were terminally ill?

Marijuana

Medicinal marijuana has been a subject of controversy for decades. But, recent revelations has made it more and more likely that this could happen in New South Wales.

According to the Daily Telegraph, New South Wales Premier, Mike Baird has publicly confirmed his support for the initiative saying that he would support his wife or children using marijuana if they were terminally ill.

The Daily Telegraph also reported that MP Kevin Anderson from Tamworth will table a private member’s bill next month to make it legal for terminally ill patients and carers who register, to possess up to 15g of cannabis.

The NSW Nursing and Midwives’ Association has expressed their support for the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes and so has the Cancer Council. The Australian Medical Association has acknowledged the therapeutical potential but has sad more research is needed.

So, with so much support from government and associations in the medical community, is the legalisation of medicinal marijuana for terminally ill people just around the corner?
