11 helpful apps for seniors

If you have a smart phone but don’t have a great collection of apps, there’s plenty out there – particularly those for your health and happiness. 


Daily Yoga (Apple and Android) = free

Daily Yoga gives you over 40 full yoga sessions with over 300 poses in the library. Listen to traditional yoga music and enjoy a guided yoga work out. You can choose the duration of your practice (5/10/15/20/30/45 minutes) and the target for the workout.

TripIt – Travel Organiser (Apple and Android) = free

Going on holidays? TripIt Travel Organiser can collate all your plans on your phone or mobile device!

Instant Heart Rate (Apple and Android) = free

Both of these apps are great for memorising what medication to take and when.

WebMD (Apple and Android) = free

If you’re unsure what your symptoms mean, you can use WebMD’s checker, though obviously you can’t beat a medical opinion so make sure you only take the advice with a grain of salt.

Having trouble reading small fonts but don’t have your glasses or a magnifying glass? Use this app to magnify as you hold it over the page.

Park’n’Forget (Apple = $1.29)

If you’re like me, you always forget where you parked. Simply input what floor you’re on and what aisle or spot, and you’ll never roam the parking garage again. It also has a convenient “Parking Meter” timer, that alerts you when you’re parking meter is about to expire.

If you don’t like going through all your apps to find out the news, this great little app can combine all your news into one feed.

If you catch taxis regular or even if you don’t, this helpful app can help you to avoid queues and call centres.

 

Public transport apps for major capital cities (Apple and Android) = free

Every state has different public transport apps and at this point in time, there isn’t one that combines every city into a single app just yet.
