Here are six of the best natural recipes (using ingredients found in the kitchen!) for at-home skincare. These are all designed for mature skin so it will leave you looking radiant.

1. DIY Face cream

Ingredients

– 1/4 cup olive oil

– 1/4 cup coconut oil

– 1/4 cup sweet almond oil

– 1/2 tsp vitamin E oil

– 1/2 cup organic alo vera gel

– 1/16 cup beeswax pastilles

– 8-10 drops of essential oil (lavender or rose works well)

Jars for storage!

Method

STEP 1: Blend the oils (except essential oils) together in a stainless steel or glass saucepan, and warm on very low heat; the oils should be warmed through, but not be allowed to really heat up.

STEP 2: In another saucepan, also on low heat, heat the wax pastilles until they’ve melted completely.

STEP 3: Fill a saucepan with water and bring to the boil. Place a heatproof bowl on top.

STEP 4: Take half of the warmed oil mixture and pour it into the pre-heated bowl. Add about 1/2 of the melted wax, and stir gently.

STEP 5: Mix the aloe vera gel and essential oils together in an electric mixing bowl.

STEP 6: Slowly pour the warmed oil and wax into the bowl with the aloe and oils. Mix as you go so it all combines and turns into a smooth cream.

STEP 7: Transfer into the jars and store in the refrigerator – it will last for at least 6 months!

2. Face-lift mask

Ingredients

– natural yoghurt

– freshly squeezed lemon juice

– 2 tsp egg white

Method

STEP 1: Mix all ingredients well in a bowl.

STEP 2: Paste over the face, neck and décolletage and leave on for at least 15 minutes.

STEP 3: Rinse with warm water and then splash your face with cool water.

3. Moisturising face mist

Ingredients

– Aloe vera oil

– Rose water

– Witch hazel

– Water that has been boiled and cooled

Method

STEP 1: Fill a spray bottle up half way with the cool water.

STEP 2: Add two tbs of witch hazel and rose water.

STEP 3: Add one tbs of aloe vera oil.

STEP 4: Top up with rose water until you reach your desired fragrance level!

4. Chocolate-mint lip balm

Ingredients

– 1 teaspoon coconut oil
– 1 teaspoon pure almond oil
– 1 teaspoon cocoa butter
– 3-4 drops pure vitamin E oil
– 1-2 drops pure peppermint extract
– 3-4 semisweet chocolate chips

Method

STEP 1: Place all ingredients in a small heat-safe bowl (glass or metal is good) and set aside.

STEP 2: Place a small saucepan with about 1 inch of water in it over medium-low heat, and heat until the water is steaming and simmering.

STEP 3: Set the bowl on top of the steaming pot of water, taking care that the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water.

STEP 4: Using a small spoon or spatula, slowly melt the ingredients until they are melted and thoroughly combined. This should take about 5 minutes.

STEP 5: When the ingredients are combined and the mixture is smooth, pour the lip gloss into a sterilized small container and allow to cool to room temperature until solid, about 1 hour.

5. Micro Exfoliant

Ingredients

– 1/2 cup organic coconut oil, melted or very soft
– 1/4 cup baking soda

Method

STEP 1: Mix ingredients well, until thoroughly blended and creamy to frosting-like in appearance depending on how cold your coconut oil is. Coconut oil should be solidified.

STEP 2: Store at room temperature in a jar with a tight-fitting lid.

To use: gently wet skin with lukewarm water. Rub a small amount of the mixture onto skin in small circular motions. Rinse well with cold water and follow with a moisturiser.

6. Face wash

Ingredients

– 3/4 cup oatmeal

– 1 tbs honey

– 1/2 tbs dried lavender

Method

STEP 1: Mix all products together and use as a light facial scrub. Don’t scrub vigorously and instead use a pulling motion.
