Qantas reveals new first class lounge

If you’re a frequent first class flyer or even if you dream you are, this will be welcome news – Qantas have just opened their First Lounge at LAX for their first and platinum flyers.

If you’ve ever been to Los Angeles Airport, you’ll know what a glum place it can be if you aren’t able to get past security, but if you are the owner of a premium Qantas, you will now have the first class treatment from the moment you get to the terminal.

The beautiful lounge can fit 200 people and is similar to designer Marc Newson’s lounges in Sydney and Melbourne

With a capacity of 200 people, the lounge has been styled on the airline’s flagship first class lounges in Sydney and Melbourne. Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce wouldn’t say how much the construction of the LA First Lounge cost, but he assured that it was intended to be the best lounge in North America “the equivalent of a five-star hotel or a fine-dining experience”.

Within the stylish walls is 74-seat restaurant as well as Californian Knoll furniture chosen by Marc Newson, American oak walls, marble floors and a 48-foot-long bar, and Tai Ping wool carpets from Hong Kong with the Qantas First Lounge hex design. If you’re dining, you’ll be treated to Rockpool Bar and Grill dishes such as black Angus minute steak with chipotle butter and lime, local cuisine including Mexican, Korean and Italian fare.

It will be a unique airline lounge as most don’t have kitchens or waiters – pretty fancy, huh?

The exclusively-operated Qantas lounge is open to Qantas First Class passengers, Platinum One and Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyers and Oneworld Emerald members. But don’t worry if you don’t hold one of these tickets, there will be a business class lounge upgrade next year that will include a dedicate children’s area.

It’s nice to dream, isn’t it! Check out the video tour here:
