The safest cities in the world are…

There are some cities that are renowned for their safety and others that are renowned for just how scarily unsafe they are… Both have certain appeal to travellers but it depends what kind of holiday you’re looking for. If you want to stay on the safe side of the world while you travel, these are the cities you should be visiting.

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, the top 20 safe cities in the world have been named. They based this assessment from the analysis of forty different measures in four different areas; digital security, health security, infrastructure safety and personal safety.

Each of these categories related to a specific set of metrics. Digital security related to identity theft and online fraud, health security related to the life expectancy and ratio of people to hospital beds, infrastructure safety related to the quality of roads and the number of people who die from natural disasters and personal safety related to crime and police force numbers among other things.
