What hotel guests really want

Some of us are just happy with a bed to sleep in and some air conditioning, while others want all the added extras when we stay in a hotel. But the most surprising necessity for travellers in a new survey was fast speed WiFi.

That’s right – we would rather have a good internet connection than airport transfers or complimentary drinks on arrival. Rewind 20 years ago and we would have much rather have had a fluffy robe and slippers, so why is it that we prefer internet and forgo everything else?

Perhaps it’s because it is a standard now and without internet at a hotel, you can feel isolated and alone, especially on a solo holiday. Or maybe it’s because we still don’t know how to truly switch off when we travel.

The 2000 adults surveyed said that a holiday was made by the ability to speak to friends and family on the internet, and the rest of it was just a bonus.
